Gearing up for 2015!
We have been awarded 'transition' funding by Defra in order to help us consult on and prepare a new Local Development Strategy for 2015-2020. This strategy has been developed with the help and input of local people, communities, groups and businesses and it sets out the broad priorities for Torridge and North Devon, focussing particularly on actions that will bring about economic benefits to our area. You can see the full strategy here. This has now been submitted to Defra as our bid for the next round of European funding and we should hear in November whether we have been successful or not. If successful, the next LEADER programme would start in January 2015.
- In the meantime, if you have an early project idea that you might like to see developed from 2015, that fits with the priorities below and will have an economic benefit for northern Devon, please let us know by completing a 'Project Ideas Form'
The broad areas that the next LEADER programme will be able to support have already been set at the national level and it is under these key themes that our local strategy has been developed:
Support for micro/small business
Support for farm diversification/increasing farm productivity
Support for rural tourism
Support for increasing forestry productivity
Provision of rural services
Support for cultural and heritage activity
